Child labor, as defined by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention, encompasses work carried out by children under the age of 12, work that obstructs their attendance at school for those under the age of 15, and work that poses hazards to the physical or mental health of children under the age of 18.

In the conduct of our business, ITC is steadfast in its commitment to:

1. Prohibition of Child Labor: We shall not engage in or endorse the use of child labor, in line with the ILO’s definition.

2. Remediation and Support: We shall establish, document, maintain, and effectively communicate policies and procedures for addressing situations where children are found to be engaged in work that falls under the definition of child labor mentioned above. Furthermore, we will provide substantial support to facilitate these children’s access to education and ensure they remain in school until they no longer meet the criteria for child labor.

3. Promotion of Education: We will establish, document, maintain, and effectively communicate policies and procedures for promoting education among children covered by ILO Recommendation 146, as well as young workers subject to local compulsory education laws or currently attending school. We will implement measures to prevent the employment of such children or young workers during school hours, ensuring that their combined daily hours of transportation, school, and work do not exceed 10 hours.

4. Safety and Well-being: We shall not subject children or young workers to hazardous or unsafe conditions, either within or outside the workplace.

5. Forced Labor Prohibition: We shall neither participate in nor support the use of forced labor, and our personnel will not be required to surrender any “deposits” or identity papers upon commencing their employment with us.

6. Compliance with Laws: We are committed to complying with all relevant child labor laws, encompassing matters related to wages, working hours, overtime, and working conditions.

7. Exploitation Prevention: ITC firmly stands against all forms of child exploitation, refraining from employing children prior to their completion of compulsory education, as determined by the relevant authorities.
